CICA president reveals plans to retire

Dennis Harwick, president of the Captive Insurance Companies Association (CICA), has revealed he will retire from his current position at the end of June, 2017.

Harwick has served as president since early 2005 when CICA created the full-time president position.

“It has been a singular honour and privilege to serve as president of CICA over the past decade of change within both CICA and the captive insurance industry,” Harwick said. “I’ve had the opportunity to make many friends and build partnerships with the various captive domiciles and domicile associations during this time.”

Michael Bemi, CICA board chair, said: “I am certain that CICA's members will join the board in acknowledging Dennis' many years of outstanding service to CICA and the broader captive industry, and also, in expressing our deepest gratitude to Dennis for his consistently excellent representation of CICA and the captive industry."

“Dennis will continue to deliver outstanding leadership to CICA’s membership up to his retirement and looks forward to organising a highly successful International Conference in March, 2017.

“In addition, Dennis has agreed to assist the CICA board and play an active role during both the executive search process and the transition. With this amount of lead time, we can ensure that the transition will be smooth with no diminution of member service.”

The CICA board’s executive committee is responsible for implementing the details of the succession plan which includes a commitment to conducting an external recruitment and selection process from a diverse pool of candidates and to consider at least three candidates for its president position.
