Connecticut opens registrations for captive symposium

The Connecticut Captive Insurance Association (CCIA) has opened registrations for its 2014 Symposium on Captive Insurance in Connecticut.

The event will take place on September 17, 2014, in Stamford, Connecticut, with a theme of Captives Done Right: Revolutionary Strategies for Optimizing Capital.

Commenting on the event, Thomas Hodson, president of CCIA says: “We increasingly hear from our captive owners about how the effective use of their captive not only better manages risk, but saves them significant capital which they can redeploy to promote important strategic initiatives. We have captured that sentiment and built this year’s Symposium around that critical theme.”

The 2014 Symposium is being jointly hosted between the CCIA, the Connecticut Insurance Department, the Connecticut Insurance and Financial Services Cluster and the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development.

“Following the tremendous success of last year's Symposium, we have greatly expanded this year's educational content and networking opportunities”, said Hodson.  “The sessions will be of interest to current and prospective captive owners, and service providers, as they are focused on risk and capital management, strategy implementation and alignment of objectives,”  Hodson continued, “Our networking opportunities include exhibit space, sponsorships, and significant time to meet Connecticut's captive regulators and others important to the development of a captive insurance program.”
