Keynote speaker revealed for NCCIA 2016 conference

Tim Tarter, an attorney with Woolston and Tarter, a US tax firm, will be the keynote speaker for the North Carolina Captive Insurance Association (NCCIA) 2016 Annual Conference.

Tarter is an attorney in the captive insurance field and will discuss steps that need to be taken now and during an audit to survive an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) attack.

This year’s conference will be held from August 22-24 at the Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge in Charlotte, North Carolina. There will be three plenary sessions and 10 concurrent sessions taught by 26 key leaders in the captive insurance industry from across the US.

Sponsors for this year’s event include Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, Atlas Insurance Management, Management Services International and Webb and Coyle.

The annual conference has grown each year from 65 attendees in its first year to over 200 expected at this year’s meeting. The number of exhibitors has grown from 6 to 16 at this year's conference. Continuing education hours are offered for attorneys and certified public accountants.

The NCCIA was formed in 2012 to advocate for legislation to allow captive insurance companies to domicile in the state. With enactment of the NC Captive Insurance Act in 2013 the association's focus turned to professional continuing education for its members and educating the public about the benefits of captive insurance.
