Missouri Department of Insurance appoints director of company and captive regulation

The Missouri Department of Insurance has appointed John Rehagen as director of company and captive regulation.

Rehagen will oversee insurance company solvency regulation as well as the department’s $5.1 billion captive insurance programme, which he set up in 2007. Since it began operation, the captive insurance programme has licensed 51 captives, including a record 12 last year.

Rehagen previously served as acting director and deputy director of the division of company regulation. He joined the department in 2003 as a financial examiner and financial analyst.

As well as Rehagen’s appointment, four others have joined the Missouri Department of Insurance. These are Angela Nelson, who has been hired as director of the market regulation division; Carrie Couch, named as director of the division of consumer affairs; Grady Martin, who has taken on additional responsibilities as director of administration and technology; and Leslie Nehring, who has been appointed as chief financial examiner.
