HDI eyes global growth with US captives appointment

HDI Global further strengthens Captive business, appoints new Lead of US Captive Solutions

German-based industrial insurer HDI Global has appointed a US captive solutions lead. Jason Tyng joins in the newly created role as part of HDI’s plans to expand the captive solutions business internationally. Tyng will guide its strategic and operational plans.

With more than 15 years of sales and leadership experience across the commercial insurance industry, Tyng joins HDI Global from Amazon, where he recently served as head of construction risk, handling international and domestic program placements.

Dr Thomas Kuhnt, HDI Global SE board member responsible for captive services, welcomed Tyng: “While in Europe we are already a leading captive player, building up our presence in the US with Jason is part of our global growth strategy. For us, it is crucial to stay close to our clients and build on local expertise to understand their needs. We can then help our clients in finding the most suitable traditional or non-traditional solutions for risks that the classical insurance market struggles to cover.”

Over the last three years, HDI Global’s Captive Services has seen a compound annual growth rate of ceded premiums to captives averaging 26 %.

“As a captive partner, our goal is to provide holistic, long-term management across multiple lines of business – be it property, liability, marine or cyber,” said Tyng. “Our clients often conduct international business. With us, they have the knowledge and confidence to choose a risk management team that will work with them to find the best solution that fits their organization in the long term.”
