Watkins launches Promethean

Promethean Risk Solutions has been launched, based around offering third-party business for captives and reinsuring employee benefits that include pet insurance, Id theft, renters programmes and other benefits.

Named after the ancient Greek Titan Prometheus, who stole fire from the Gods, Promethean is based in Philadelphia.

Chief executive and founder Kirk Watkins said in a statement on LinkedIn: “We help risk to grow and diversify your captive with profitable third-party business and your HR department to offer better benefits, save employees money and share in the insurance carriers’ profits.”

Watkins was previous the national sales leader - captive insurance programs - employee benefits & affinity programmes at Marsh & McLennan Agency - East from September 2015 until he left to found Promethean in April 2022.

Before that he was president of Independence Benefits Consulting from November 2007 to September 2015.
