Zaniboni joins EY as captive leader for Luxembourg

Vittorio Zaniboni has been appointed director, captive & insurance excellence leader for Luxembourg at EY and will be working closely with EY Global Captive Network leadership team.

Zaniboni was previously the chief insurance officer (CIO) at Generali Employee Benefits from February 2018 to February 2022. He joined the company as an actuary in 1998 and then rose to reinsurance manager, then chief actuary, then chief technical officer before becoming CIO.

Prior to that he was actuary in the Life Department of Assicurazioni Generali from 1996 to 1998.

Zaniboni told Captive International that his goal is to offer a holistic suite of governance, and TechEx services to captives, predominantly on their employee benefits (EB) books, to help them with improving the ownership and the active management of the risks they re/insure in Luxembourg and around the world, working with other members of the EY Global Captive Network.

“Throughout my 20+ years career in the insurance industry, I had the privilege to be part of the birth and development of the EB captives market, and I have helped around 50 captives to set up and run their EB books from the fronting network standpoint,” said Zaniboni. “The possibility of bringing my humble contribution to this market from a different perspective, possibly supporting even more closely captives in their venture in the EB world is what attracted me towards this new role.”
