Captive veteran takes charge of Marsh risk management in Europe

Marsh has appointed Lorraine Stack as risk management leader, Europe, effective immediately.

Stack is based in Dublin and reports to Christos Adamantiadis, chief executive and Carolina Klint, chief commercial officer, Marsh McLennan Europe.

Marsh also announced that Rob Geraghty has succeeded Stack as international consulting and sales leader, Marsh Captive Solutions and that Nick Gale has been promoted to Dublin and Isle of Man captives operations leader, both effectively immediately. Geraghty is based in London and Gale is based on the Isle of Man; both report to Will Thomas-Ferrand, international captive practice leader, Marsh.

In her new role, Stack has overall responsibility for Marsh’s portfolio of its largest European clients and supporting them in managing their risk and insurance programmes. She will also work closely with Marsh’s risk management leaders to develop a unified client strategy across the region, with a key focus on collaboration and growth to position Marsh as the foremost risk advisor for the future.

Stack joined Marsh in 1996 and has held numerous senior international positions within Marsh Captive Solutions. She brings over 30 years’ experience in broking and underwriting to the role and succeeds Klint, who was appointed as chief commercial officer, Marsh McLennan Europe, in 2023. Stack also retains her position as chair of Marsh Captive Solutions’ Dublin Captive Management office.

Geraghty leads a team of sales and consulting professionals responsible for new business initiatives and captive consulting across the United Kingdom, Ireland, Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific. He joined Marsh in 2011 and has extensive international captive consulting, management, and sales expertise, having held roles in Bermuda, Gibraltar, and Dublin. Most recently, Geraghty has led international sales for Marsh Captive Solutions for the past five years.

In the role of Dublin and Isle of Man captives operations leader, Gale will further strengthen the close working relationship between the two offices and focus on developing complementary solutions and services that benefit Marsh Captive Solutions’ clients. Gale joined Marsh in 1998 and has held a variety of senior level roles in the Cayman Islands, London and the Isle of Man, including advisory practice leader for Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific.

“Lorraine is widely recognised and respected among her peers as one of the industry’s foremost thinkers on risk and resilience, and how insurance can be used to create a competitive advantage,” said Adamantiadis. “She is a wonderful addition to the European leadership team and will play a key role in delivering the best of Marsh to our clients across Marsh McLennan.”

Thomas-Ferrand added: “The growing popularity of captive insurance solutions globally is continuing apace amid challenging insurance market conditions, which is contributing to innovation in captive structures, servicing, regulation, and greater adoption in numerous countries. Rob and Nick’s rich knowledge of the international captive insurance sector will be invaluable as Marsh Captive Solutions continues to develop new solutions that support our clients in managing their rapidly evolving risks.”
