Cayman committed to building industry

Cayman has reinforced its commitment to building the captive industry at the 2014 Cayman Captive Forum.

Speaking at the annual conference, hosted by the Insurance Managers Association of Cayman (IMAC), Deputy Premier Hon Moses Kirkconnell said the 2014 had been a successful year, reporting premiums at $12.4 billion and assets at $55.1 billion.

He added the government were " responsive" to policy and legislation matters.

Rob Leadbetter, chair of IMAC opened the conference. He reported a record number of registered delegates for this year's conference - 1451 - indicating it as being further testimony to the event being the number one attended captive conference globally.

He reported that as at September 30, 2014, the domicile had a total of 765 captives, an increase of 10 with 20 new licenses for the year. He was confident this figure would rise with a further 5-8 in the pipeline. He also informed the audience that Cayman now had 35 tax exchange agreements in place.
