Insurance and captives experts promoted at Appleby

International law firm Appleby has made four promotions in its Bermuda office. Bermudians Tiffany Boys and Matthew Carr have been made partners while Andrew Kuzma and Josephine Noddings are promoted to counsel, pending immigration approval.

Both Boys and Carr joined Appleby as trainees over a decade ago. The Legal 500 client guide to law firms lists Boys as a “Rising Star” in banking, finance and capital markets. Carr specialises in insurance and reinsurance, including captives, catastrophe bonds, special purpose insurers, and long-term and general business commercial re/insurers. He is frequently involved in licensing new re/insurance structures and is a member of the Bermuda Business Development Agency’s (BBDA) Captive Insurance Committee.

Carr is also recognised by Legal 500 as a rising star in insurance and reinsurance.

Noddings, who joined Appleby in 2017, practices in insurance, too, as well as other areas of corporate law. Her practice includes advising on the structuring and formation of investment funds, including master and feeder structures and ILS funds. She is recommended in the insurance/reinsurance category of the Legal 500.

Finally, Kuzma practices in the corporate group within securities and corporate law, capital markets, public offerings, private placements, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, banking and finance, corporate governance and reorganisations.

Tim Faries, Bermuda managing partner, said: “Congratulations to Tiffany, Matthew, Andrew and Josephine on their promotions. They are very skilled legal practitioners who are extremely valued by their colleagues, peers and clients. I wish them continued success.”
