MAXIS GBN targets new markets with new executive appointments

MAXIS GBN has announced new organisational changes that it claims will allow it to target new markets and continue with planned international expansion.

In addition to his current role leading the UK, Middle East & African region, David Schupak will also head up the Western European market. He has been working in global benefits since 1998, having started with AIG in New York and Peru. He worked throughout Latin America and Europe and has been based in London for the last nine years.

David’s strong results in leading the UK market and successful track record in developing key network relationships across multiple regions make him a strong fit for these important new responsibilities,” said Andrew Stocker, head of distribution, MAXIS GBN.

Lilia Gaouar will report to David as the regional manager for Western Europe. “Lilia has been a key driver of MAXIS GBN’s success in the Middle East and South Africa and is well positioned to step into this management role,” said Stocker.

The business development team in Western Europe will report directly to Gaouar and she will soon relocate to Paris. She joined MAXIS in 2014 as a global underwriter specialising in Middle East and Mediterranean markets. Since 2017, Gaouar has had responsibility for sales and business development in MAXIS GBN’s local markets in the Middle East and the non-French speaking countries in Africa.

As a result of Gaouar’s promotion, Sonia Rekik will transition from her current role overseeing the Mediterranean market and French multinationals and will now assume all of the Middle East and Africa. Rekik has over 16 years’ experience and extensive knowledge of international health insurance markets such as Africa, Middle East and Europe.

Stocker concluded: “I am pleased to be in a position to announce these changes which compliment an already strong business development leadership team: Thomas Lienert for the NORCEE region, Juliet Kwek in Asia-Pacific and Ricardo Almeida covering the Americas. These organisational changes also reinforce MAXIS GBN’s commitment to our markets – particularly in important growth areas – as well as our commitment to the development of our people.”
