New Corant chairman eyes “tremendous opportunities” in world’s largest captives market

Paul Scope has joined Corant Global as chairman of its Bermuda operations.

Scope joins from Willis Bermuda where he served as chairman since 2015, and said Bermuda presents “tremendous opportunities”, given its role as the world’s largest alternative capital and captive market, and second largest re/insurance market.

“Corant’s entrance here demonstrated the global confidence in our market and addressed the demand for a truly independent service,” he said.

Before joining Willis, Scope founded Park International, serving as president and chief executive officer (CEO) for more than a decade and becoming chairman of The Park Group in 2003. He was appointed chairman and CEO of JLT Park Bermuda after the business was acquired by JLT in 2007.

At Corant Scope works alongside Chris Bonard, chief executive officer of Corant Bermuda and Ed Broking Bermuda, and John Turner, chairman of Ed Broking Bermuda.

Steve Hearn, Corant CEO, said the “appointment is indicative of our long-term ambitions in Bermuda and [Scope’s] invaluable expertise and deep market roots on the island will be integral to our continued strategic growth.”
