Read Now: Captive International Europe Focus 2022

Captive International is delighted to share with you our second edition of  our Europe Focus, which looks at the current state of the captive market across the continent.

European captives might not be as numerous as they are in places like the US, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t have a great deal of potential as they become more and more visible in what has always been an ever-changing insurance market.

Recent regulatory developments have also given rise to hopes that any red tape-covered hurdles to the spread of captives might start being removed. Both in the EU and the UK there have been calls for regulations concerning captives to be loosened.

In this edition we get an update from FERMA as to recent lobbying progress with the EU over this, along with a call for action from the London Market Group, which points out quite rightly that there’s no reason why London, one of the greatest insurance centres in the world, can’t also be a centre for captive insurers.

We also take a look at the size of the European market, as well as the current state of regulations, and we have articles from key players in the market, giving their takes on what else is going on at the moment.

Please take some time to read the issue; we hope that you enjoy it and we are already looking forward to working on the 2023 edition!
