Somers Risk appoints Lawrence Cook as a director of client services.


Boutique captives and alternative risk consultant Somers Risk has recruited Lawrence Cook to work as a director of client services. 

Cook serves on the Vermont Captive Insurance Association’s board of directors and the Tennessee Captive Insurance Association’s conference committee. Over 40 years in the alternative insurance market, he has worked across brokerages, group captives, risk retention groups, re/insurance companies and third-party claims administrators. Since the start of his career in 1982, he has been involved with more than thirty captive programs.

Most recently, he was a director and program manager for Sedgwick, and is a previous vice president at IMA, Discover Re, Chubb and Arch Insurance Company, among others. 

According to his LinkedIn profile, Cook is currently “retired (kind of)”.
