Scott Simmons

Director

Founding director Scott handles underwriting, capacity, corporate and investor relations, claims and business development.

He loves Verve’s focus on helping talented underwriters achieve their full potential, and having the ability to create a future in line with his personal goals.

Like Alan, Scott joined the underwriting world straight out of school. He’s spent 30 years in the industry and the book of business he built from scratch in the 2000s is at the root of the Verve we see today. Outside the office, Scott enjoys a game of golf, but his true passion is football – especially at grassroots level.

Alan Lambert

Director

One of Verve’s two founding directors, Alan is responsible for underwriting, finance, operations, business development and the day-to-day running of the business.

He loves creating a home for ambitious underwriters to share their skills and drive, without the restrictions of a traditional corporate environment. Having worked in the London insurance market since he left school at 16, Alan co-founded Verve with Scott in 2016 and was part of the team that led a management buyout in 2023.

When he’s not working, Alan loves being outdoors – whether he’s walking, running, exploring or taking part in a game of cricket or golf.

Freddie Haggerwood-Bullen

Associate Director

With 10 years of insurance experience, Freddie joined Verve in 2019 and is responsible for underwriting, operations, IT and systems.

As an ideas person, Freddie loves having the freedom to build his own client base and to grow the business through technology and innovation. He appreciates Verve’s agile nature and the ability to quickly launch new products in response to market changes.

Freddie spends his spare time on long walks with his dog, playing squash, running and cycling. He’s also a keen cook and loves to travel.
