Concert taps Carter as CRO and CCO

Concert Group has announced that Kenneth Carter (pictured) has been appointed to the position of chief risk officer in addition to his role of chief claims officer.

Carter, who joined Concert in October 2024 as chief claims officer, now has responsibility for all aspects of risk for the company including its admitted carrier, Concert Insurance Company, its non-admitted carrier, Concert Specialty Insurance Company, and its risk retention vehicle, Harmony Re. The position of chief risk officer was previously held by chief actuary Sam LaDuca.

“In the nine months since Ken joined our company, he has consistently impressed his colleagues as well as our board of directors and our customers with his keen intelligence, his ability to rapidly assimilate information and his now-comprehensive command of the fronting sector,” said Concert chief executive John Hendrickson. “He has developed an outstanding relationship with Concert’s underwriting team and has already made a meaningful impact on a critical partner cohort – the company’s reinsurers.

“Ken brings considerable experience in risk management to his new role. At his previous employer, he was an integral member of the company’s ERM Committee and was engaged in the assessment of current and emerging risks and management of those risks.

“The transfer of responsibility for risk assessment and management from Sam to Ken underscores the deep range of expertise that now characterises Concert’s executive team, providing us with the opportunity to leverage our team’s talents for maximum impact. Ken’s new appointment enables Sam, who continues as chief actuary, to play a leading role in overseeing the execution of our strategy for establishing Concert as a leading hybrid fronting carrier.”

“I’ve had the great privilege of knowing and working with Ken for over two decades,” said LaDuca. “I echo all that John has noted and would only add that Ken’s business acumen, dedication to excellence and prodigious work ethic leave me with no doubt that he will elevate Concert’s risk management function to best-in-class.”

Carter’s career includes 24 years at Merchants Insurance Group. His most recent role at the company was vice president, claim operations, a position he held for six years. Prior to that, Carter was employed at Allstate Insurance Company as casualty manager.
