David Weber joins Zurich captives team

Zurich has appointed David Weber as head of proposition and business development for captives.

Weber started in his new role on 1 March, and was described in an announcement as “a key capability” as part of the commercial insurance captives team run by Adriana Scherzinger.

He brings more than 15 years of international experience across risk management, multinational casualty underwriting, technical governance, and innovative solution design, including parametric and data driven approaches.

He was most recently insurance lead at PARAMETRIKS, but before that spent 10 years at Generali Global Corporate & Commercial in a number of roles, including his last two and a half years as head of parametrics

“In his new role, he will further strengthen Zurich’s captive value proposition and support the development of forward-thinking solutions tailored to the evolving needs of captive clients,” the group said.

“Weber’s appointment reflects Zurich’s continued investment in its captive capabilities, following recent team reinforcements such as the arrival of Marcus Kessler.”

Commenting on his new role on LinkedIn, Weber said explained the focus of his new role.

“Captives are evolving rapidly, playing an increasingly strategic role as organizations navigate volatility, emerging risks, and the growing demand for transparent, tailored, data-driven solutions,” he said.

“In this role, my focus will be on strengthening Zurich’s captive value proposition, staying closely aligned with the needs of our established captive customers, shaping future propositions grounded in technical excellence, underwriting discipline, and innovation, lead and support business development for Zurich captives across the regions.”
