Davies appoints James Ferris as CEO of captive management
Davies has announced the appointment of James Ferris (pictured) as chief executive of the firm’s captive management business. Based in Bermuda, the appointment is effective from 1 July and will see Ferris assume the captive management chief executive role from Nick Frost, who will take on the role of chairman.
Ferris, who brings more than 25 years of experience in the insurance industry to the role, joins from BMS, where he was chief executive of capital & risk advisory in Bermuda. Prior to joining BMS, he spent over two decades at PwC and was lead partner of the advisory team in Bermuda. Ferris’ experience brings new capabilities and perspectives to the team, as he takes over responsibility for the business and leading Davies’ global captives team, with clear goals to expand services and capabilities.
Frost has held the role of captive management chief executive for 14 years, and will be taking on an ambassadorial role as chairman, further strengthening Davies’ proposition for US captive owners. Davies said that under Frost’s leadership has adapted to new risks and tough market conditions, cementing the firm’s reputation as a global leader in captive management and alternative risk solutions.
The new structure further positions Davies’ captive management business to grow into new global domiciles in response to increasing client demand for broader international support.
Steven Crabb, chief executive - insurance solutions, Davies, said: “James will be an exciting addition to our growing global captive management business and reflects our ambitious growth plans. James’ extensive experience within the industry will bring new developments and we look forward to seeing his future contributions. The move of Nick Frost to chairman is a pivotal internal change to consolidate team strengths and maintain the tremendous progress Nick has made over the last 5 years, and we look forward to seeing continued growth in the future.”
Frost added: “My time spent as chief executive of captive management has been incredibly rewarding and being able to work with the captive management team has been a privilege. I look forward to seeing developments in the captive team under James’ leadership.”
“I’m delighted to be moving into the role in such a critical landscape of the reinsurance industry, and I’m looking forward to broadening the Davies offering to the market, building on the core strengths in the team,” said Ferris. “Furthermore, I’m honoured to be stepping in after Nick Frost who has curated and developed the team over the past 14 years.”
