FORTY Under 40: Beth Borowsky
Beth Borowsky, consultant, SRS Advisers.
Borowsky is a captive insurance consultant who leads and supports complex engagements, including feasibility studies, strategic reviews, domicile analyses and redomestications. She oversees the analytical and strategic aspects of delivery, helping clients evaluate structure options, navigate regulatory considerations and make informed decisions that support long-term programme sustainability.
Within SRS Advisers, Borowsky works in three main areas of focus: data and analytics, program administration and report writing and regulatory filings. Her responsibilities include analysing information for feasibility studies and strategic reviews, preparing captive pro-forma financial statements, and assessing the economic implications of proposed captive structures. She also supports programme administration through the preparation and review of policy documentation. In addition, Borowsky contributes to report writing and regulatory efforts by researching applicable captive statutes and regulations, drafting feasibility reports and compiling captive application materials and business plan change filings.
Looking back at your journey over the past year, what accomplishment are you most proud of, and how has becoming a FORTY Under 40 finalist influenced your perspective on that achievement?
I’m most proud of the deliberate investment I made in strengthening my technical foundation while continuing to grow into a leadership role. Completing all coursework for the associate in captive insurance designation alongside a demanding project load was a meaningful milestone as it deepened my understanding of the industry and reinforced the importance of technical credibility in client advisory work. At the same time, my responsibilities expanded beyond a purely analytical role into developing team members, building processes, and leading multidisciplinary engagements.
Becoming a FORTY Under 40 finalist has encouraged me to reflect on that progress not as a single achievement, but as part of a broader commitment to doing my work thoughtfully and well. It has also reinforced that sustained impact comes from consistency, accountability and a willingness to keep learning.
What key challenge did you face in your work this year? How did you overcome it and what did it teach you about leadership at this stage of your career?
One of the most significant challenges I faced this year was managing complex, fast-moving engagements while stepping into a role with greater ownership and visibility. As responsibilities expanded, balancing detailed technical analysis with coordination across teams and key partners required a more deliberate approach to prioritisation and decision-making. When challenges emerged, it became critical to quickly reassess priorities, align the right people and maintain momentum without compromising accuracy. Those experiences reinforced that leadership at this stage is less about control and more about providing direction, creating structure and helping others stay focused under tight timelines. Above all, it underscored the value of calm judgment and effective teamwork.
In what ways have you tried to push innovation or rethink traditional approaches within your sector, and what impact has that had on your team or organisation?
Recently I’ve focused on rethinking how our team approaches complex, data-heavy feasibility work by being more intentional about how information is gathered, refined and analysed. This has included exploring ways to improve the efficiency of data cleansing and aggregation, allowing the team to spend less time untangling inputs and more time focused on interpretation and strategy.
“Leadership at this stage is less about control and more about providing direction, creating structure and helping others stay focused under tight timelines”.
That shift creates space to more fully evaluate multiple paths forward, test different structures and consider creative solutions that balance technical rigour with practical nuance. Ultimately, this approach supports recommendations that are more closely aligned with each client’s objectives. From my perspective, innovation isn’t simply about adopting new tools, but about creating room for more thoughtful analysis.
How do you see your role evolving over the next three to five years, and what initiatives are you most excited to pursue as you continue to grow professionally?
I see my role continuing to evolve toward leading increasingly complex engagements while helping shape how captive consulting services are delivered across the firm. I’m excited to deepen my involvement in strategic problem-solving, helping clients navigate structure, scale and long-term sustainability. Additionally, I plan to continue developing processes and supporting team growth in ways that reinforce consistency, quality and collaboration across SRS.
Many of the FORTY Under 40 winners are recognised for both business success and broader impact – how do you balance professional excellence with contributions to your community or industry landscape?
I see broader impact as something built through thoughtful collaboration. Working closely with brokers, service providers and regulators on complex challenges has not only led to more effective solutions and stronger outcomes for clients but also creates shared understanding and repeatable approaches that make future situations easier to navigate. Over time, this creates more efficient processes, clearer expectations and more sustainable solutions across the captive landscape.
