Let’s get ready to rumble: earthquake strikes CICA conference keynote
The Captive Insurance Companies Association (CICA) annual conference in Palm Springs got off to a shaky start as an earthquake struck during the keynote speech.
Demographer and futurist Kenneth Gronbach was giving his presentation, titled “Charting the course through economic change”, as an earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale shook the conference hall.
Gronbach finished his address after the interruption, and no-one was hurt.
CICA president Dennis Harwick later remarked it was the first time the earth had moved during any keynote address.
