Marriott appoints new director of global insurance

Karen Rice has been promoted to director, insurance services, global insurance, Risk Management Department at Marriott International.

Rice said she she will be responsible for serving Marriott’s global operations and will take a leadership role in the contract review and identification of appropriate risk transfer strategies, including contractual risk allocation for complex contracts and insurance support to the global organisation.

Rice first started at Marriott as a senior insurance analyst in its Risk Management Department in January 2004, in Bethesda, Maryland. 

She was senior manager, Insurance-Middle East & Africa/Specialty Lines, from March 2010 to March 2018, director, insurance - Middle East & Africa, from March 2018 to September 2020 and senior manager, international insurance, from September 2020 to January, all in Bethesda, Maryland. 

Prior to that she was a risk manager at MCI from November 2001 to January 2004 in Washington D.C.
