MSIG UK confirms Harris in CUO position
MSIG UK has appointed Tim Harris (pictured) as interim chief underwriting officer, reporting to chief executive officer Martyn Rodden. The appointment is subject to regulatory approval.
Harris, previously deputy chief underwriting officer, has held the role on an interim basis since 7 September, following the departure of John Moffatt. The company said that his appointment reflects the depth of underwriting expertise within MSIG UK and the company’s commitment to developing talent from within the business.
Harris has played a key role in shaping and delivering MSIG UK’s underwriting strategy. He brings extensive market experience, strong technical expertise and a deep understanding of the business and will work with the underwriting leadership team to maintain continuity in strategy, performance and service for brokers, clients and MGA partners.
Additionally, Stephanie Belcourt joins MSIG UK as Claims Director, further strengthening the company’s claims leadership and service to brokers and clients. Belcourt spent time heading up complex claims at Rokstone, following many years at both Apollo and Hiscox.
Both Harris and Belcourt join the MSIG UK Executive Committee.
MSIG UK is strengthening its proposition as a leading open market carrier, building on its Dual Stamp initiative with MS Amlin and expanding its distribution capabilities. Investment in underwriting talent, claims leadership and technical expertise—including strategic hires across marine, construction, casualty, property and claims—supports its long-term growth ambitions. New MGA partnerships and portfolio solutions are also broadening its market reach and reinforcing its position as a trusted specialist insurer.
Rodden said: “Tim is a highly respected leader who has played an important role in developing our underwriting proposition and culture. His appointment reflects both his contribution to the business and the depth of talent within our underwriting team. Our underwriting strategy, appetite and ambitions remain unchanged following Tim’s appointment.
“The forthcoming arrival of Stephanie Belcourt as claims director further strengthens our leadership team and reflects our commitment to investing in the future of the business.
“With Tim and Stephanie’s leadership, the experience of our wider team and the support of our Board and shareholder, we remain focused on delivering disciplined growth, underwriting excellence and consistently high standards of service for our brokers, clients and partners.”
