New group COO unveiled at Canopius
Canopius Group has announced the appointment of Stacey Alioto (pictured) as group chief operating officer.
Alioto will report to Neil Robertson, Canopius group chief executive, and will join the group leadership team. She will join Canopius in September 2026.
Based in Chicago, Alioto joins Canopius from HSBC, where she most recently served as deputy group chief operating officer. According to Canopius over 25 years at HSBC Alioto built a strong reputation for translating strategy into disciplined execution at scale. She has led operations spanning more than 60 markets, and led teams of up to 10,000 employees, managing significant cost bases and delivering consistently throughout the enterprise.
The company added that Alioto’s experience is highly relevant to the next phase of Canopius’ evolution, as the group continues to scale internationally and sharpen its focus on operational excellence, and that she will bring a fresh, forward-looking perspective shaped by leading complex global operations, driving transformation and building the structures needed to support sustainable growth.
Robertson commented: “We are delighted to welcome Stacey to Canopius. She brings exceptional depth of operational leadership that aligns closely with our ambition and scalable growth trajectory.
“Stacey will play a critical role in helping us take our next leap as a business. By building on the strong operational foundations already in place, and leveraging Canopius’ new Centre of Operational Excellence, Stacey will help us automate, drive efficiency and ultimately improve productivity and decision-making.”
Alioto said: “I am excited to be joining Canopius at such an important point in its journey. The Group has strong operational roots as a truly international business, a clear growth trajectory and a culture focused on performance and collaboration.
“I look forward to building on these foundations and working with colleagues across the organisation to further strengthen operational excellence and support Canopius’ continued success.”
Alioto will succeed Kate Roy, who is retiring after a distinguished, five-year tenure at Canopius as Group COO.
