Arizona names acting director of insurance

Arizona Governor Douglas Ducey has appointed Darren Ellingson as acting director of insurance.

He replaces Germaine Marks, who recently resigned to accept a position in the private sector.

Ellingson has served as the Arizona Department of Insurance deputy director since 2013, overseeing the department’s day-to-day operations and its divisions.

Prior this, he served as an administrator for multiple health care facilities in Oklahoma and Arkansas.

He has also served as the deputy insurance commissioner, deputy receiver, and assistant general counsel for the Oklahoma Insurance Department.

Ellingson said: ”I look forward to continuing the great work started by Ms. Marks and will work to ensure Arizona remains a business-friendly environment for insurers while protecting insurance consumers."
