Beazley partners with Vizient to offer active shooter coverage

Beazley has entered into a new contracted relationship with Vizient Insurance Services, a subsidiary of Vizient, to offer active shooter coverage.

The policy includes prevention and crisis management services, and insurance coverage to indemnify covered losses. It is designed to help reduce the likelihood of an incident by providing risk assessments and educational tools to help clients improve security and resilience to an incident, and is available immediately to Vizient members.

Beazley’s crisis response services include security, investigation into the cause of the incident and assistance with managing crisis communications.

Vizient provides services that it says improve the delivery of high-value care by aligning cost, quality and market performance for more than 50 percent of acute care providers in the US. This includes 95 percent of the academic medical centres, paediatric facilities, community hospitals and integrated health delivery networks in the country.

Chris Parker, head of terrorism and political violence underwriting at Beazley, noted the frequency of incidents involving deadly weapons in the US, which require organisations to be prepared.

“Unfortunately, immunity from the risk of an attack is impossible, but improving safety and risk management measures can reduce the likelihood or the severity of such an attack,” said Parker.
