Bermuda Captive Conference unveils keynote speaker


The Bermuda Business Development Agency (BDA) has unveiled the keynote speaker of the annual Bermuda Captive Conference.

Former White House chief information officer, Theresa Payton, will provide the keynote speech at the three-day conference which kicks off next week (Monday June 8, 2015). It is expected to attract 650 delegates.

Payton served at the White House under George W Bush from 2006-08, the first woman to hold the position. She administered information technology oversight for the president and 3,000 staff members.

Prior to this, she held executive roles in banking technology at Bank of America and Wells Fargo, She currently advises organisations on improving their IT systems against cyber threats, through her company Fortalice.

Payton’s speech, scheduled for noon on Tuesday, June 9 at the Fairmont Southampton, is titled ‘Big Data and the Internet of Things: Boon or Bust for your Cyber Security Efforts?’. In her speech, Payton will discuss marketing databases, customer analytics, and protecting data elements from hackers, as well as how the Internet of Things (IoT) will drive global change.
