Bermuda must stay at cutting edge of captives

Bermuda must stay at the cutting edge of the captive market if it is to retain its position as a vitally important domicile.

That was the message from the Captive International round table held on Monday, September 11, ahead of the 2023 Bermuda Captive conference.

Moderated by Marc Jones, editor of Captive International, the panel consisted of Grainne Richmond, from Aon and the Bermuda Captive Network; Lesley Robinson of WTW; Chiara Nannini of Conyers; Nicola Hallett of Artex; and George Jones of Ocorian.

The panel agreed that Bermuda’s captive market had seen steady growth over the past year but that Bermuda cannot rest on its laurels and must continue to stress its depth of captive expertise and other resources.

Other topics discussed included how robust Bermuda’s regulators have been, the possible impact of artificial intelligence and the need to make sure that recruitment picks out the best talent out there to secure Bermuda’s place in the years ahead.

A full transcript of the roundtable will appear in the upcoming Bermuda Focus edition of Captive International.
