Brown & Brown appoints Takamine as captives leader


Brown & Brown has appointed Matt Takamine as executive managing director and captive practice leader.

Takamine will be responsible for all Brown & Brown’s captive management and consulting services and is based out of Honolulu, Hawaii.

“In Brown & Brown’s Risk Solutions team, captives and alternative risk are an integral part of our service offerings. We have a reputation for providing top-notch customer service and innovative, cutting-edge solutions to our customers,” says Takamine. “In reflecting on the last 20+ years of my career working in the captive insurance industry, I am passionate about leading market strategy, delivering services that exceed customer expectations, and developing and inspiring captive professionals. I’m honoured to lead Brown & Brown’s captive practice and continue its traditions of excellence and innovation.”

Takamine has over 20 years of experience working with captive insurance companies and has been highly involved in the industry throughout his career. He has served on the board of directors of the Hawaii Captive Insurance Council (HCIC) for nearly 15 years, including multiple terms as the HCIC’s president, board chairman and government relations liaison. He has also been part of the Captive Association Leadership Council, representing captive associations across the United States.

In addition, Takamine served a six-year term on the International Centre for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE) board of directors, based in Burlington, Vermont.

Before joining Brown & Brown, he was a senior manager in KPMG’s Insurance and Financial Services practice.
