Builders expands business in Germany with Gerditex partnership, unveils plans for office in Germany

Builders Direct, the direct insurance business of Builders Group Insurance Solutions (BGIS), has expanded its presence in Germany via a new partnership with Gerditex to write property and multi-risk insurance.

Gerditex specialises in writing insurance for the German textile industry, providing coverage that its clients cannot find elsewhere. Builders Direct specialises in property, casualty, contingency, engineering and specialty insurance, and has offices in Luxembourg and London.

Florian Kohler, group deputy chief executive officer and chief underwriting officer at BGIS, said its new underwriting activities in Germany will soon be supported by a new branch office in the country. “This will allow us access to a niche specialty market. And niche is what we like at Builders,” he said.

Marco Ehmann, CEO of Gerditex, added: “This exclusive partnership brings a new additional subscription capacity to the German industrial insurance market.”
