Cannasure eyes expansion with product development hire

Cannasure Insurance Services, an insurance MGA and wholesale broker for the cannabis and hemp industries, has hired Summer Jenkins as senior product development manager.

Jenkins is based in Sacramento and reports to Kieran O'Rourke, Cannasure’s director of underwriting. She has more than 20 years of foreign and domestic underwriting, programme and product development experience, with expertise in cannabis operations, captive formation, construction, healthcare and environmental risk management.

She was previously senior program manager for commercial auto/cargo cannabis programs at CannGen Insurance Services, creating and managing nationwide property and casualty programs for the cannabis and hemp industry.

She spent five years at Western Elite Insurance Solutions, where she was involved in captive management and development of the workers’ compensation programme. She has also held underwriting positions at Abram Interstate Insurance (now Risk Placement Services) and AmTrust, among others.

Patrick McManamon, CEO of Cannasure, said it is a critical time for the company’s expansion and the cannabis industry as a whole.

O'Rourke described Jenkins as “an accomplished underwriter”, predicting she will “play a key role in the development of products, programs and best practices” at Cannasure.
