Captives veteran Hodson forms Gulfstream Risk Advisors

Bill Hodson, an experienced captives executive who has worked at firms including Willis Re, Axiom Re and Goss Re, has formed a new venture focused on the placement and on-going management of reinsurance programs for small to middle-market specialty lines insurers, captives, Risk Retention Groups, and any writer of specialized risks.

Gulfstream Risk Advisors aims to act as a true advocate for such companies and to provide unique expertise using a holistic philosophy and as much hand-holding as is necessary to accomplish the reinsurance and risk management goals of the reinsured client. Gulfstream also provides consulting services on a project/fee basis, and works with various industry service providers (captive managers, actuarial firms, regulators, specialist consultants) to develop additional business projects and reinsurance brokerage opportunities.

Hodson began his reinsurance career with the GL Hodson & Son and then GLH's successor organization, Willis Re, in the Atlanta, New York and North Carolina offices. During that time, his focus gravitated toward specialty lines reinsurance placements for program oriented business produced through Managing General Agents, and Alternative Risk reinsurance placements for captives and Risk Retention Groups.

Hodson also helped to grow Axiom Re. In that role, Bill produced and managed reinsurance related analytical projects for insurance companies and MGAs, and quarterbacked the formation of captive insurance companies.

His expertise was also utilized to help form and grow Goss Re/Advocate Reinsurance Partners in Dallas focusing his practice on the specific areas of Alternative Risk reinsurance, and program reinsurance business produced traditionally, through specialist service providers, and through MGAs.
