CICA makes a number of board changes


The Captive Insurance Companies Association (CICA) has made a number of changes to its board of directors.  Michael Bemi, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of The National Catholic Risk Retention Group, has been elected chair of the board of directors of CICA. He has more than 40 years of experience and achievements in the insurance industry and is a charter member and former chair of the National Risk Retention Association, former chair of the Vermont Captive Insurance Association, and a member of the Risk & Insurance Management Society.  Sarah Pacini as has also been appointed as board vice-chair of CICA. Pacini is CEO at the Cooperative of American Physicians: Mutual Protection Trust, and she also serves as CEO at the Cooperative of American Physicians Insurance Company in Los Angeles, California. Previously she was vice president of Risk Management and Insurance and the chairperson of Advocate Insurance SPC at Advocate Health Care in Oakbrook, Illinois.   Lance Abbott and Audrey Rudberg have also been elected to three-year terms on the CICA board directors. Abbot is president of BevCap Management, director of BevCap Captive Group, and director/shareholder of BevCap Sponsored Cell Captive in McKinney, Texas. He founded BevCap Management in 2008 to manage BevCap Captive Group, a newly formed homogeneous group insurance captive for beer distributors.  Rudberg is president of Minnetonka Insurance Company, Cargill’s captive in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and is senior insurance manager - global alternative risk transfer for the parent. She is responsible for the governance and operation of MIC, which focuses primarily on the parent’s global master programs, including non-US employee benefits. Rudberg has more than 25 years of experience in corporate risk management, including the use of captives as a funding mechanism. Her captive experience includes hospital/health services, financial services, and manufacturing/processing.
