Dan Towle, president of the Captive Insurance Companies Association (CICA), will send an email to all attendees of its forthcoming 2020 International Conference today to address concerns around the coronavirus outbreak.
The message, which has been seen by Captive International, says: “Like many of you, CICA is paying close attention to new developments with the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). We are monitoring local, national and international public health departments and agencies for the latest updates and guidance. We have been working closely with our conference hotel, the Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa, regarding their efforts, like adding additional hand sanitizer stations throughout the event venue, to help reduce health risks.”
There have been at least 40 cases of the coronavirus reported in California, according to the LA Times.
Towle urges attendees to monitor the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website for additional information.
Despite concerns about coronavirus, CICA predicts the event, which runs from March 8-10, will draw above average attendance and a record number of exhibitors.
