Delaware DOI captives director secures ACI designation

Steve Kinion, director of captive insurance and financial products at Delaware’s Department of Insurance, has been awarded the International Center for Captive Insurance Education’s  Associate in Captive Insurance (ACI) designation.

The Delaware Department of Insurance is one of only four insurance regulatory bodies globally that is certified as an “ICCIE Trained Organization” by the ICCIE. To qualify, organisations at least 20 per cent of the captive professionals in the organisation must hold an ACI designation, and at least 30% must be ACIs, Certificate in Captive Insurance (CCI) holders, or currently enrolled in the ACI or CCI program.

Currently, 65% of Delaware DOI captive professionals hold the ACI.

Established in 2004, the ACI is the highest professional designation in the captive insurance industry and has been awarded to 601 captive insurance professionals. Steve is now a member of an even more exclusive club as one of only five chief state captive insurance regulators in the United States who holds the ACI.

“The ACI is the highest professional designation in the captive insurance industry, and ICCIE is the premier provider of captive insurance education globally,” the DOI said in a statement. “Since the ACI was first awarded in 2004, only 601 captive insurance professionals have earned the ACI. Steve is now a member of an even more exclusive club as one of only five chief state captive insurance regulators in the United States who holds the ACI.”
