Former Aon Captives head joins BMS

The former CEO of Aon’s captive services in Canada, Ian Matheson, has joined independent specialist re/insurance broker BMS Group as a non executive chairman. He will support Brian Gomes, president and CEO of BMS Canada and the national leadership team, the company said.

Matheson spent 15 years with Aon and its subsidiaries, where he held several senior roles. As well as heading up captive services, he served as chief development officer and director. Matheson was also chief consulting officer and director of Risk Management Consultants of Canada Limited. He was also served as a senior risk officer at both Genstar Corporation and Harrowston Inc.

He will continue as principal and chief consulting officer of IRGM GLOBAL Risk Management Consultants, where he has been for over ten years.

“Our ongoing focus of specialization and value delivery strongly position us to capitalize on new opportunities. I’m delighted that Ian is joining us as we continue to advance and expand our business,” said Gomes. “Ian’s experience will be instrumental in furthering our strategic development, in both our current and new sectors.”

Matheson added: “With the Canadian market presenting new opportunities, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Brian and the BMS team. The fact that they have such a refreshing outlook and a strong commitment to their clients makes this new venture an appealing prospect and one I am excited to join.”
