BMS taps Howden for its new chief commercial officer
Specialist re/insurance broker BMS has appointed Eliot Powell as group chief commercial officer, reporting to Nick Cook, BMS CEO of BMS. Based in London, Powell will take a vital role in expanding and delivering on BMS’ strategic business goals, the company said.
He joins BMS with over 25 years’ experience in the industry, having grown a successful, independent brokerage business, Powell Bateson, acquired by Howden in late 2014. Staying on with Howden, he held various senior roles, most recently global chief transformation officer. There, he was responsible for much of the digital development across the business and had oversight over adopting digital strategies and new ways of working.
“Eliot is extremely talented, and I am pleased to welcome him to the BMS team,” said Cook. “He will join the group executive committee and will focus on delivering our strategic goals, our continued digital transformation, and the company’s geographical expansion through M&A. He will be a valuable addition to BMS as we continue to grow.”
Powell added: “I am looking forward to working with BMS as the business looks to capitalise on the opportunities currently presenting themselves in the market. Nick and his team have created an established and profitable business, and I am looking forward to contributing to BMS’ continued success.”
