Hawaii captive manager FiRMS appoints COO

First Insurance Company of Hawaii (FICOH) has appointed Kei Kobayashi to the role of vice president, along with the position of chief operating officer of First Risk Management Services (FiRMS), a FICOH subsidiary offering non-standard risk solutions and captive management services.

Kobayashi joined FICOH in 2015 and has been involved in the company’s strategic and tactical planning efforts, including the multi-year project modernizing the company’s systems and processes.

Prior to FICOH, he worked for FICOH’s parent company Tokio Marine, including as a manager in its international business development department.

“Kei is an indispensable member of our leadership team,” said Jeffrey Shonka, First Insurance president and CEO. “He’s helped us navigate several important decisions and continues to prove himself as an astute business person, a big-picture thinker, and a skilled marketing professional.”

Earlier in October, FICOH had appointed Lance Kawano as president of FiRMS and vice president of FICOH.
