JLTIM president to showcase Bermuda as “world’s top captive domicile”

The president of captive insurance consultant JLT Insurance Management (Bermuda), Richard Daley, will be among the speakers at The Executive Forum, an event on Bermuda’s captive insurance solutions which will be held in Chicago and Boston.

The Executive Forum will be held in the Devonshire Room at The Langham Chicago on March 7, and will then be held at the Chase Room at The Langham Boston on March 9.

“These events are part of the Bermuda Business Development Agency’s roadshow, which is designed to showcase the benefits of Bermuda captives,” says Daley.

“Bermuda remains the world’s top captive domicile because it helps organisations cost-effectively meet a wide range of insurance and risk-related challenges.”

These two events are part of the Bermuda Business Development Agency’s series of informational presentations designed to showcase the benefits of captives domiciled in Bermuda.

Bermuda's captive insurance market has close to 800 companies generating more than $55 billion in annual gross written premiums.

Due to the presence of commercial re/insurance companies on the island, captive owners and operators have access to open-market underwriting capacity not typically ofund in other captive domiciles.

In Boston, Daley will moderate a panel discussion about Bermuda captives that will include captive insurance, accounting, and Bermuda government representatives.

He will then join other experts in a panel discussion in Chicago, moderated by Al Gier, global director of corporate risk management and insurance at General Motors.

Other participating firms include Cedar Consulting of Bermuda, Estera Services (Bermuda), Marsh, KPMG Bermuda, Marsh, PwC Bermuda and Willis Towers Watson Management.

Jamie Sewell, Chicago-based manager for risk management and insurance for Boeing, added: “We chose Bermuda specifically for our captive because it’s a respected, well-regulated jurisdiction and its insurance and reinsurance sectors are world-renowned.”
