Mercer Marsh Benefits snaps up Maxis’ Almeida

Marsh has hired Ricardo Almeida as its new managing director of Mercer Marsh Benefits in Latin America and the Caribbean. He replaces Renato Cassinelli, who passed away in June after more than 12 years in the role.

Almeida joins Marsh after more than five years with Maxis Global Benefits Network, the insurance network co-founded by MetLife and AXA. There, he was the global distribution leader, responsible for global development, enhancement, and execution of Maxis’s strategy.

In a career spanning more than two decades, he has also served in roles with AIG, ALICO and MetLife, where, before Maxis, he was vice president and Latam employee benefits head.

Almeida wrote about his new role in a LinkedIn update.

“I am very excited about the challenges ahead. It gives me the opportunity to expand my connections and join another very sophisticated and talented team at Mercer Marsh Benefits (MMB), as well as continue to train and support clients in navigating and solving some of the most difficult risk and human resources issues,” he wrote.

“We are more connected than ever, and in Marsh McLennan, I see an opportunity to address the 4C challenge (climate, cyber, covid, community) in an integrated way.”

Back at Maxis, meanwhile, Paul Lewis has been promoted to global head of business development. He has over 15 years’ experience working with multinational organisations and implementing international employee benefits programmes, the last five with Maxis. He was previously regional director for the Americas.

Before Maxis, Lewis held roles with MetLife and with Aetna Global Benefits.
