More details announced for Bermuda Captive Conference on new website

Details of this year’s Bermuda Captive Conference have been revealed on a new website.

The website, https://bermudacaptiveconference.com, features a new look and updated features.

The event, which runs from June 13-15 at the Fairmont Southampton Resort, Bermuda, will include hot industry topics, and feature outdoor events ranging from golf competitions and beach dinners to a nature walk and rum-tasting.

The schedule features three days of moderated round tables and panel discussions with sessions blending emerging topics of high interest like cyber risk, insurance-linked securities (ILS) and healthcare, to nuts-and-bolts sessions educating delegates on electronic filing and creating a captive insurer. Included is a heightened focus on the role of reinsurance-and the Bermuda market's beneficial access to its capital.

"This year's event is shaping up to be one of the biggest, with an agenda we feel highlights relevant and provocative topics of interest to the whole insurance industry," says conference chair c managing director at PwC Bermuda.

"We're aiming to attract more than 700 attendees with a full schedule designed to educate but also entertain."

Agenda highlights, interspersed with networking breaks, include panels on: US tax issues, LatAm captives, medical risk and healthcare reform, the energy (oil and gas) sector, global tax information exchange agreements (TIEAs), rent-a-captives and other set-up structures, and several sessions on introductory and advanced investing for risk managers. Included will be dual-language sessions catering to LatAm attendees.

Tuesday's lunch will feature keynote speaker Joe Flower, a leading international expert in healthcare, genomics and biotech, who explores the future of healthcare and the impact of technology, pharmaceuticals and diagnostic techniques.

Outside of the business focus, the conference itinerary includes an engaging menu of leisure activities, kicking off June 13 with a morning golf tournament at the Riddell's Bay Golf & Country Club, and a two-hour nature walk led by Bermudian industry veterans Roger Gillett and Raymond Madeiros. Other recreational activities slated are an evening rum-tasting June 14, welcome cocktails, and a closing al fresco dinner June 15 on the resort's South Shore beachside terrace with fireworks.

The relaunched conference portal, allowing delegates to register for the event as well as early-bird hotel rates by February 29, was designed by AAC Saatchi & Saatchi.

"We're proud of the website's new look and features," says AAC owner and conference coordinator Rhona Emmerson.

"It allows for full viewing of the conference sessions, event highlights, trade-floor layouts, industry links, accommodations and flight specials, along with sponsor profiles in an easy-to-navigate design. The site has also been optimised for all computers and mobile devices and links to the conference's social media channels."
