MSI launches captive insurance CE course for P&C agents and brokers

The Agents and Brokers Education Network (ABEN) ABEN.TV will add an educational programme about captives to its online platform in March.

The programme, titled Captives: What Are They And How Do They Work, was filmed by John Dohn and Jeremy Colombik, the national sales manager and president, respectively, of Management Services International (MSI). It is the first stand-alone captive insurance continuing education (CE) programme for P&C insurance agents and brokers for ABEN.

The course is aimed at both agents with no captive knowledge and those familiar with captives, providing enough information about the industry to allow agents and brokers to identify prospects and engage in captive conversations. Participants earn one credit hour of CE.

Dohn said: “As a licensed P&C insurance agent, I realised there was a great need for captive education. As a result, I collaborated with Becky McCormack from the IIAB SC chapter and Jeremy Colombik, CPA, to create a practical captive insurance CE presentation.”

Colombik said: “Captive education is vital as more baby boomers retire and millennials buy their agencies. Millennials need to understand the value of captive solutions due to the fact if they do not educate clients about captives, another agent will educate them and earn their business in the process.”

ABEN partners with 41 member states to provide CE for thousands of insurance agents and brokers.
