NAIC president to attend CICA conference

The president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), Julie Mix McPeak, will be attending the CICA 2018 International Conference, the first-ever visit from an NAIC president to this event.

The CICA conference will be held from March 11-13 at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona. McPeak will attend on March 12.

"We are excited to have NAIC President Julie Mix McPeak join us at CICA's International Conference," said Dan Towle, CICA president. "Her participation is a compliment to how far the captive industry has come. CICA brings together top regulators and thought leaders from around the globe. Her participation is a wonderful development for the captive insurance industry and we look forward to welcoming her," said Towle.

McPeak will provide brief remarks at the opening session on Monday morning and will meet privately with US and international regulators.

"As the president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance, I want captive insurance regulators and industry representatives to understand that regulators are increasingly aware of the role captive insurance plays in the global insurance marketplace," said Mix McPeak.

Towle continued: "This year's conference focuses on addressing the challenges of change, which starts with sharing great ideas and our education program is set to deliver those new ideas. The education program includes a new professional development track; presentations involving over 80 speakers from all sectors of the industry, including a first time presentation by CICA's partners from the European Captive Insurance and Reinsurance Owners Association (ECIROA); and sessions on topics ranging from how health care captives are helping companies contain costs to insurance coverage for emerging technologies.”
