NCCIA conference details revealed

The North Carolina Captive Insurance Association (NCCIA) has announced further details of its 2022 conference, taking place from 1 to 4 May at Washington Duke Inn and Golf Club in Durham, North Carolina.

Anne Marie Towle, global captives solutions leader at Hylant, will open the Captive Owners track with an introduction to captive insurance, along with Mike Meehan, principal at consultant Milliman, and Leane Rafalco at the North Carolina Department of Insurance.

Other speakers will include Chaz Lavelle, partner at Dentons Bingham Greenbaum and lead player in seminal legal battles between the IRS and captives. He will be discussing the issues determining whether the IRS considers a captive as really in the “business of insurance”.

On the same day, Tracy Bell, director of equity strategies at First Horizon Advisors, will look at the future of the US economy. The following day, meanwhile, Peter Ahearn, a 30-year veteran of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, will be part of a panel looking at cyber security.

Last year’s NCCIA saw  record attendance following the cancellation of the 2020 event due to the pandemic.
