Oklahoma Insurance Department hosting first captives and IBT conference

Oklahoma Insurance Department (OID) has announced that it will hold its first Captive & Insurance Business Transfer (IBT) Conference in Oklahoma City this Summer. The event will be held at the Omni Oklahoma City Hotel on 24 to 25 August and provide educational sessions on captive insurance and IBTs.

Sessions will address new and emerging risks and demonstrate how captives can offer solutions beyond the traditional insurance marketplace. It will also look at resolving run-offs and discontinued books of insurance business through IBTs. Ten hours of continuing education credit will be available.

Speakers will include Oklahoma insurance commissioner Glen Mulready and Alan McClain, Arkansas insurance commissioner, as well as speakers from Aon, R&Q, Lockton and Strategic Risk Solutions, among others.

“With Oklahoma’s expansive IBT law and the OID’s supportive, efficient captive regulatory platform, companies of various industries across the country recognize Oklahoma as a highly competitive jurisdiction,” Mulready said. “It is a great opportunity to educate stakeholders on the benefits of captive insurance and IBTs. I believe a conference like this will help Oklahoma continue to be the hub for these two innovative tools.”

Registration opens on 1 May 2022, with more details on  the website.
