Risk Strategies captives division appoints general counsel

Specialty brokerage and risk management firm Risk Strategies has secured a well known industry name for the post of general counsel for its captives division.

With 28 years in the insurance industry, Dana Hentges Sheridan confirmed the move saying: “I’m excited to share that I have started a new position as general counsel, captives division at Risk Strategies Company.”

Hentges Sheridan began her career as a litigator trying cases involving interpretation of insurance contracts or claims and underwriting issues. She has trial experience in cases involving insurance coverage and claims, contracts, regulation, bad faith, self-insurance, and broker E&O, and experience in administrative proceedings involving captives and state insurance regulators. She has helped companies and individuals develop and implement integrated compliance, risk management, and insurance programmes as well as drafting various forms of insurance or risk related contracts.

She moved to Risk Strategies from CIRA Solutions, a firm she founded and led as principal advisor.

She said: “Thank you to everyone who helped make CIRA Solutions a success, especially my clients - you all were a true pleasure to advise and work with these last two years. I had some favourites along the way and you know who you are. To those in the world of captives, I’m sure I will see you soon at a conference or event.”

Prior to founding CIRA, she held senior roles at Acrisure, Active Captive Management and Tressler.
