RKH Specialty eyes international growth with healthcare hire

RKH Specialty has appointed Richard Putnam as divisional director for healthcare.

Putnam joins from CNA Hardy, where he spent four years, most recently as underwriting manager. He was credited with contributing to significant premium growth and helping to develop a geographically diverse portfolio. He also developed a wide range of healthcare products for individual clinicians, medical technology start-ups, NHS providers, private hospitals, and whole government healthcare systems.

At RKH, part of Hyperion Insurance Group, Putnam works closely with hub offices in Singapore, Dubai and Miami, and its network of producers, to develop new products and services for international clients in territories outside the US. He is based in London.

Alistair Carter, head of healthcare at RKH, highlighted exponential growth in the healthcare sector around the world, and the opportunity to grow the business outside its traditional core US market. “Many countries are experiencing significant demographic shifts and social mobility that has resulted in a growing middle class who have the appetite and affluence to demand high quality healthcare, which in turn is driving demand for our services,” he explained.

“Bringing together [Putnam’s] expertise with our global reach and presence in international markets will enable us to capitalise on these new opportunities and deliver unique products for clients in these regions,” he added.
