SRS snares Artex’s Child to run a new Guernsey office

Strategic Risk Solutions is opening an office in Guernsey and has hired Peter Child, the former head of Artex’s European operations, as managing director of SRS Guernsey Management.

Child will officially take up his position in July and will assume responsibility for the development and oversight of SRS’s business in Guernsey.

Child began his insurance career in the early 1990s with Euler Hermes, a London-based trade credit and political risks underwriter. He worked in data analysis, sales and underwriting before returning to Guernsey in 2001 to take up the position of assistant director of the insurance division of the Guernsey Financial Services Commission (GFSC). From there he joined Aon where he spent two years, before joining Artex in 2007.

SRS said it wants to build a strong team in Europe and in the commercial insurance and insurance linked securities (ILS) segments, in line with what it has achieved in the US. It has already started a recruitment drive to build a team to work in the Guernsey office.

SRS chief executive officer Brady Young called Guernsey “a great place to do business,” highlighting its “solid regulatory framework, strong infrastructure, and a vibrant and growing insurance market.”
