TCIA president joins Tennessee law firm

Dickinson Wright, a Tennessee-based law firm, has appointed Kevin Doherty as a member.

Doherty is currently chairman and president of the Tennessee Captive Insurance Association (TCIA), and is a member and past chair of the Captive Insurance Committee of the Self-Insurance Institute of America.

His practice focuses on insurance regulatory law, with an emphasis on captives, risk retention groups, self-insurance funds and other alternative insurance vehicles.

In 2011, Doherty helped to rewrite the captive insurance law in Tennessee, and has assisted in subsequent amendements to the law.
