WR Berkley company hires captive exec

Midwest Employers Casualty Company (MECC), a WR Berkley Company, has appointed David Anderson as underwriting director of its recently formed workers’ compensation captive practice.

He previously served as a managing director at Travelers, where he managed an underwriting team of 4-5 account executives responsible for $100 million book of alternative risk transfer casualty business, primarily group captives.

Andrew Cartwright, vice president of assumed reinsurance, said: "David's strong technical underwriting background in group captives, combined with his market relationships, is an excellent fit for our new initiative. He will bring MECC's unique expertise and breadth of resources in workers’ compensation to the captive marketplace.”
