Zurich North America appoints group captive head

Zurich North America has appointed Terry McCafferty as head of group captives, a key strategic business unit of programmes & direct markets.

He succeeds Rod DeMaso, who recently moved to a new role as director of technical underwriting for Zurich product underwriting.

In his new role, McCafferty will be responsible for the operational management of the company's group captives business, including member-owned, agency and association captives.

McCafferty will relocate from Zurich's offices in Overland Park, Kan., to the company's North American headquarters in Schaumburg.

He joined Zurich in 1998 as assistant vice president of product development for Zurich personal insurance. Since then, he has held various operating, finance and underwriting roles across the organisation, culminating in his most recent position as chief operating officer for Zurich programmes and direct markets.
